About

Dr Mitchell Saskin, Clinical Psychologist, NYC Psychotherapist, Upper West Side, UWS, NYC

I am a Clinical Psychologist with a practice on the Upper West Side in Manhattan, NYC. The focus of my psychotherapy practice is providing counseling for individuals and couples who are struggling in terms of life transitions and major life change which can include:

  • Reassessment around life goals/direction.
  • Job loss or career transitions.
  • Dissatisfaction with life and love relationships and the need for life change.
  • Illness and loss.
  • Infertility, miscarriage, and postpartum depression.
  • Unplanned pregnancy, decisions to terminate, and personal struggles after termination.

I’ve been classically trained as a psychotherapist and while I am grateful for the solid foundation, grounding, and experience I received over the years I’ve also moved  towards incorporating more alternative, mindful, holistic forms of treatment into my practice.

As a complement to talk therapy, I provide Hypnotherapy for clients recovering from chronic pain, depression, anxiety, stress, habit control, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), and many other traumas and chronic medical conditions. I hold an Ericksonian Hypnosis Master Practitioner Certification in association with the New York Milton H. Erickson Society for Psychotherapy and Hypnosis.

I’ve had the pleasure of spending 20 years as a psychotherapist in private practice as well as working and consulting in schools. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Derner Institute at Adelphi University.

I am Licensed in New York as a Clinical Psychologist and a School Psychologist and I’m a member of the following professional organizations: American Psychological Association, New York State Psychological Association, Mindfulness and Education Working Group at Teachers College, Columbia University, The Association for Transpersonal Psychology, Society for the Psychological Study of Men and Masculinity.
